  • OxygenOS Open Beta 2 is now available for OnePlus 6 users.
  • The Android 9.0 Pie-based firmware is rolling out to existing beta users as an OTA update.

OnePlus 6 users with a taste for experimental software can now update their phones to the latest OxygenOS Open Beta 2. The update, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie, comes a week after OnePlus released the first beta build for its current flagship.

If you already flashed Open Beta 1 then you should receive the latest build as an OTA update. As ever, OnePlus is asking beta participants to share feedback on its forums here.

Editor's Pick

Open Beta 2 contains a number of crucial fixes which should push the Pie-flavored firmware one step closer to a full stable release.

Among the tweaks listed in the official changelog are improved Wi-Fi stability, background power consumption and multi-tasking optimizations, and an image quality bump for the front-facing camera.

Nevertheless, there are still some teething issues to say the least. OnePlus has noted that some third-party apps will still not function as expected. Likewise, Google Pay will still flat out not work on the current build.

As long as you don’t mind unstable software and the prospect of potentially losing all of your data if you want to switch back to stable updates, hit the button at the bottom of this post and follow the instructions to try it out for yourself.
