Former President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday evening that he's suing New York State's Attorney General Letitia James, accusing her of abusing her position by investigating him.

In a chain of posts on his social-media platform, Truth Social, Trump said his lawsuit was filed in the Florida State Circuit Court.

The announcement comes after James filed a $250 million civil lawsuit against Trump on September 21, seeking to permanently ban Trump and his three eldest children from conducting business in New York.

James said on that day that Trump had falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to obtain loans for the Trump Organization and "cheat the system."

In his complaint against James, Trump accused the attorney general of a "war of intimidation and harassment" and of a "longstanding and continued bias" against him and his organization.

He further claimed that her lawsuit was part of a "plot to obtain control" of his organization and its wealth.

On his Wednesday TruthSocial post, Trump claimed without evidence that James' September lawsuit was filed against him because he is "now leading in the polls by substantial margins against both Democrats and Republicans."

The New York Attorney General's press office and representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
