Ivanka Trump's childhood friend wrote a tell-all essay for Vanity Fair, which she said she hoped would contribute to Ivanka being unable to re-integrate into her old social life after her father's presidency ends.
Lysandra Ohrstrom said she met Ivanka in the seventh grade at their New York all-girls school, and that the pair stayed close for more than a decade, becoming "more sisters than best friends."
She was a maid of honor at her 2009 wedding to Jared Kushner.
But she said their different stances on social issues led to them grow apart. She said that many in her circle now have a similar distaste for their former peer, but have been reluctant to say so in public.

Ohrstrom said she hoped in 2016 that Ivanka would moderate President Donald Trump's "most regressive, racist tendencies" while serving as a White House advisor — but that she was disappointed.
She said that she thought her reasons for doing so would be cynical: "not out of any moral commitment, but because caging young children and ripping up global climate agreements was not a good look in the halls of Davos."
After that did not happen, Ohrstrom said she was motivated to speak out to make it harder for Trump to return to her old high-society life.
She said: "I think it's past time that one of the many critics from Ivanka's childhood comes forward—if only to ensure that she really will never recover from the decision to tie her fate to her father's."
Along similar lines, CNN recently reported that New York's social elite looks likely to reject Trump and Kushner should they try to re-integrate.

Ohrstrom wrote: "I expect Ivanka will find a soft landing in Palm Beach instead, where casual white supremacy is de rigueur and most misdeeds are forgiven if you have enough money."
These are some of the allegations Ohrstrom makes in her Vanity Fair essay:
- Ivanka told Ohrstrom that her necklace, that spelled her name in Arabic, "screams terrorist."
- Ivanka once rejected Ohrstrom's book recommendation by asking "why would you tell me to read a book about f—ing poor people?"
- Donald Trump would keep a mental record of how Ohrstrom's body looked and note changes, and would ask which of Ivanka's classmates were "prettier" than her.
- Ivanka "had the Trump radar for status, money, and power, and her dad's instinct to throw others under the bus to save herself."
- She said Ivanka accused Ohrstrom of having "really turned into a Marxist" while they were "having some sort of disagreement about affordable housing in Manhattan."
