President Donald Trump's positive COVID-19 diagnosis on Friday poses a major health risk to dozens of high-level government officials who he recently interacted with and who could now potentially contract the virus.
Over the past week, Trump attended a series of White House ceremonies and press briefings, traveled to different states for campaign rallies, and participated in the first presidential debate. Members of his staff, administration, family, and supporters were present at the various events.
Several within Trump's orbit who may have been exposed to the virus have already taken COVID-19 tests, with some testing positive. Health experts have warned that false negatives are possible within the first few days of infection, so results could change with additional testing.
The president traveled to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday evening "out of an abundance of caution," according to the White House. He has so far received some therapeutic treatments and is currently "fatigued but in good spirits," White House physician Sean Conley said in a memo. Trump is also experiencing a low-grade fever and a cough, news outlets reported Friday.
First Lady Melania Trump, who also tested positive, is quarantining at the White House. She is experiencing mild symptoms so far.
Here's a chart that shows all the top officials who have been near Trump or attended events with him since Sept. 26.
