  • People are reselling iPhones with pre-installed Fortnite on eBay for as much as $10,000.
  • There are hundreds of listings at lower, but still outrageous, prices.

If you’ve been following the battle between Epic Games and Apple these past few weeks, you would know that the developer’s popular mobile game Fortnite is no longer available to download on iPhones. Apple removed the battle royale title from the App Store citing policy infractions, but those who already had the game installed still have access to the game. Taking advantage of this fact, some people are now selling their older iPhones with Fortnite pre-installed for thousands of dollars.

First discovered by Business Insider, a search on eBay with terms like “iPhone Fortnite installed” or “iPhones with Fortnite” yields hundreds of iPhone listings with outrageous prices. One particular listing of an Apple iPhone X with Fortnite installed has a whopping $10,000 price tag!

You can also find more recent iPhones with Fortnite pre-installed — like the iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro — for anywhere between $2,000 – $6,000. One crazy listing even shows a 2015 iPhone 6s with a “Buy It Now” price of $10,000.

If you’re even considering paying these eye-watering prices for an iPhone just to be able to play Fortnite, you can definitely consider yourself to be one of the biggest fans of the game. However, it’s worth noting that those who previously installed the game can install it again via the App Store’s ‘My Purchases’ menu. Furthermore, you can always sideload Fortnite on an Android phone and you won’t even have to pay thousands of dollars to buy a good one.

It’s also unlikely that Fortnite will remain pulled from the App Store forever. Apple and Epic could reach a resolution in the future if they can find middle ground on the App Store payments issue. So hold your horses for now, or not. It’s your money to burn.
