Update: February 22, 2:59 AM ET: Smartphone tipster Evan “@Evleaks” Bass posted up on his Twitter page what looks like an official render of what he has labeled the Sony Xperia 1. This seems like it will be the new name for the previously rumored and leaked flagship Sony Xperia XZ4, showing a vertical triple rear camera setup in the middle of its frame, along with what appears to be an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone is previously rumored to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor inside, along with 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of onboard storage.

Blass even hinted in a follow-up tweet that the Xperia 1 will have a 4K HDR OLED display.

Blas also tweeted new renders of what look like the mid-range Sony Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus. These phones look like they will have 21:9 screen ratios and Sony is expected to reveal all of them during the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona on Monday, Feb. 25.
A leaked render of the Sony Xperia XA3 or Xperia 10 WinFuture

Original story – February 14, 2019 – Sony isn’t usually the first brand you think of when it comes to compelling mid-range smartphones and it now looks like the Sony Xperia XA3 series won’t do much to change that.

The series is said to launch under the Xperia 10 moniker, according to serial tipster Ishan Agarwal and WinFuture. But the name change doesn’t mean we’re looking at a perfect ten here, as the latter outlet reports the standard variant will be powered by a Snapdragon 630 chipset, while the Plus model will offer a Snapdragon 660 processor.

The Snapdragon 660 might be over a year old, but it’s still a very capable chip. The Snapdragon 630, on the other hand, is one of the weaker mid-range processors around. It’s a disappointing move, especially when Qualcomm has the Snapdragon 636 and 632, offering a significant CPU boost on paper.

Other noteworthy Xperia 10 specs reported by WinFuture include 3GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 13MP+5MP rear camera pairing, a selfie camera of “at least” 8MP, and a 2,870mAh battery. The latter figure is particularly small, as the phone is seemingly offering a 5.9-inch 21:9 display. You’d think Sony would use the extra size to deliver a bigger battery, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Editor's Pick

The Xperia 10 Plus is tipped to arrive with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 6.5-inch 21:9 display, and a 12MP+8MP rear camera pairing. Other specs, such as battery and selfie camera details, weren’t forthcoming.

The standard Xperia device is said to retail for 349 euros (~$394), while the larger model is pegged at 429 euros (~$484). Between the Pocophone F1, Nokia 7.1, and the Redmi Note 7 series, Sony might have a tough job convincing people to shell out for these devices. Do you think the new phones would be worth buying at these price-points? Let us know in the comments.
