- Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Republican on the House Oversight Committee, appeared to threaten to release publicly embarrassing details about Michael Cohen one day before Cohen is scheduled to testify before the panel.
- "Hey @MichaelCohen212 - Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends?" Gaetz tweeted. "Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She's about to learn a lot."
- Gaetz's tweet came on the heels of a Wall Street Journal report that said Cohen plans to publicly accuse President Donald Trump of criminal conduct while in office when he testifies on Wednesday.
- Shortly after Gaetz sent out the tweet, some legal experts suggested his statement could amount to witness intimidation and obstruction of justice. Gaetz denied that, saying he was "witness testing."
