- Job site Glassdoor released its annual ranking of the 50 best jobs in America.
- For the fourth year in a row, the top job in the US is data scientist.
- Glassdoor ranked the jobs based on three criteria: median base income, job satisfaction, and number of job openings in the US.
Glassdoor has released its annual list of the 50 best jobs in America, and a familiar job took the No. 1 spot.
The job search engine measured each jobs based on three criteria: earning potential based on the job's median base salary, the number of job openings, and job satisfaction according to Glassdoor ratings. The three criteria were then averaged into an overall "job score" to rank the top 50 jobs for 2019.
For the fourth year in a row, data scientist came out on top.
Although the top 50 jobs can be found in almost any industry, several of the top entries on the list were in the field of computer science. According to Glassdoor, advances in modern technology are making those jobs more lucrative and sought-after than ever.
"There's no question that emerging technologies designed to grow and scale business, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation are having an impact on the types of jobs employers are hiring for across the country," Amanda Stansell, economic research analyst for Glassdoor, said in a statement. "As a result, we're seeing a spike in demand for highly skilled workers in 2019."
