The Swiftkey beta app.

Most mobile browsers these days have a private browsing mode, automatically deleting your browsing history and other data upon exiting this mode. Keyboard apps have followed suit, and now Swiftkey’s take on the functionality has received a welcome tweak.

According to a reddit thread and Neowin, the latest Swiftkey beta update (version 7.2.2.31) now automatically switches to incognito mode when you’re in an incognito mode browser tab or in a secret Telegram chat. This is a pretty convenient change, as you previously had to manually enable incognito mode in Swiftkey.

Today’s keyboard apps use your typed words to improve auto-correct and other predictions. So the last thing you want is for your keyboard app to be learning the words you use on adult websites and incorporating it into your predictions.

It’s not the only keyboard app to offer automatic incognito mode either, as Gboard has offered this feature for a while. Still, we’re glad to see this functionality come to another big-name app.

The Swiftkey team also used the week to detail performance improvements it made to the app last year. These include reducing lag by 50 percent, and improving loading times by an average of 20 percent.
