- For the very first time the iconic British sports car Lotus will be made in China, according to job advertisements and government documents.
- At a time when the world and particularly the Unites States are studying the global ebb and flow of auto manufacturing, Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely plans to start producing the British brand in the city of Wuhan, in Hubei province.
- It is Geely's first decisive move since its purchase of a majority stake in 2017.

- For the once mighty Lotus, it could mean a brand new future of ramped up production and perhaps one day soon - a Lotus SUV.
BEIJING/SHANGHAI (Reuters) - The Chinese owner of Lotus plans to start producing the British sports car brand in China for the first time with the opening of a new 9 billion yuan ($1.3 billion) factory in Wuhan city, company job advertisements and government documents showed.
The previously unreported plans are Zhejiang Geely Holding Group’s first move to shake up the British brand since its purchase of a majority stake in 2017.
