Shortly after Alejandro Aparicio Santiago was inaugurated as the mayor of a Mexican town on Tuesday, he was shot and killed.
Santiago was elected mayor of the town of Tlaxiaco, in the Southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. He was sworn in and headed to city hall for his first meeting when a group of gunmen shot at him, NPR reported.
