- Photo samples from the Pixel 3 Lite have apparently leaked.
- The sample photos look good but it is hard to know for sure how they stack up to photos taken with the Pixel 3.
- The phone will allegedly have the same camera as the Google Pixel 3.
Last week, Russian tech blog Rozetked unveiled details of a phone it says is the Pixel 3 Lite — an upcoming budget version of the Google Pixel 3. The same publication has now published photos it says were taken with the phone.
According to the original leak, the phone will have the same 12MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing camera as the Google Pixel 3 and the Google Pixel 3 XL. While we still don’t know if this is true, the photos published by the blog contain a lot of detail.
Unfortunately, the publication didn’t include photos of the same scenes taken with the Pixel 3, which would’ve allowed us to directly compare the two cameras. While Rozetked did provide a link to Pixel 3 photos, these were taken on a different day, when the weather was much brighter.
The publication included a picture it says it took using the phone’s portrait mode. The sample looks good and has a natural-looking bokeh effect. However, the picture is of fruit so it doesn’t show us how the camera will deal with human features and hair.
There are no photos taken with other Pixel 3 camera modes such as the highly praised Night Sight mode. In fact, low-light samples would go a long way to showing off the Pixel 3 Lite’s supposed camera prowess, as daytime shots aren’t an issue for most phones.
As well as getting the same camera as the Pixel 3, the blog says the Pixel 3 Lite will have a Snapdragon 670 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 2,915mAh battery, a headphone jack, and no notch. The phone is also tipped to have a plastic build instead of the Pixel 3’s glass design.
It also says the phone will cost between $400 and $500 and that Google will announce it in the first half of 2019. While this appears to just be speculation, the publication’s track record suggests it is probably worth listening to.
