Smoke Dawg has sadly died at the age of 21.
The Toronto rapper was fatally shot in his home city on Saturday (June 30) due to gang-related violence, according to Major John Tory.
The rising “Trap House” star previously collaborated with acts like French Montana and operated as part of the music collective Halal Gang. He also opened for Drake during the Boy Meets World Tour in 2017.
Drake paid tribute to the fallen artist on his Instagram Story on Sunday morning (July 1).
“All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating. I wish peace would wash over our city. So much talent and so many stories we never get to see play out. Rest up Smoke,” he wrote.
Our thoughts are with Smoke‘s loved ones at this time.
