Xaomi has launched the Redmi Y2 at an event in India. The handset is a rebranded version of the Redmi S2 launched in China last month, and the sequel to the Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite from last November. Unlike its Y1 predecessors, though, there’s no Lite model coming this time.
Instead, Xiaomi has launched the device in two versions — 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM — the same as with the S2, and at a similarly attractive price point.
As rumors had suggested, the Redmi Y2 also features a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and a Snapdragon 625 chipset. There’s a 12MP + 5MP dual rear camera setup, 16MP front-facing camera, and 3,080mAh battery to keep it all running too.
The device won’t, however, include Xiaomi’s recently unveiled MIUI 10 software interface, though it will be heading to devices in India in beta form from June (including for the Y2).
