  • The previous version of the Android P developer’s preview was missing the “Clear all” button in the task viewer.
  • Luckily, the button is back in the newest update, Android P developer’s preview 3.
  • Dave Burke, the VP of Engineering for Android, promised the button would be back in May, and held up to that promise.

If you’re app-happy and often find yourself with loads of apps running at once, you might notice a little lag on your Android device. To close the apps, you simply open up the task view and swipe them all away with the “Clear all” button.

But the Android P developer’s preview 2 that came out a month ago curiously took away that “Clear all” button. This made people pretty upset, as they were concerned they’d have to swipe out each app manually to close it down.

But Dave Burke, the VP of Engineering for Android, promised the button would come back. And, lo and behold, the button is in fact back in Android P developer’s preview 3, which launched earlier today:

Hopefully, this will help app-happy people sleep a little better knowing that they won’t lose the button when they eventually upgrade to the stable version of Android P.

If you have a compatible device and would like to give Android P a shot, you can enroll in the beta program and download the system files here. Just be warned that the current developer’s preview is not stable and you’ll likely come across a few bugs. If you’re nervous about that, wait until the official release later this year.
