President Joe Biden on Wednesday stoked the fire of a budding feud between former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

"It'll be fun watching them take on each other," Biden joked during a press conference of the incipient clash between Florida's two most powerful figures when asked who he would rather face.

Biden was feisty throughout his news conference, poking at the media for predicting a "red wave" in 2022 and scoffing at Trump's political strength after a dismal showing for some of the former president's key endorsements.

DeSantis romped to reelection on Tuesday night, notching an impressive performance on what was otherwise a disappointing night for Republicans. The GOP's hopes for a broad rebuke of Biden have been dashed. Even the House majority, which had long been assumed to be in Republican hands remains too close to call as of Wednesday evening. While Republicans are still poised to retake the chamber, their majority could be up being almost as narrow as Democrats' current five-seat razor-thin margin.

Trump has begun to tear into DeSantis as talks of a 2024 campaign heat up. He blithely referred to the governor as "Ron De-Sanctimonious" last week. On Wednesday, Trump also bizarrely bragged that he won more votes in Florida as a presidential candidate compared to DeSantis as governor, though, midterm numbers often lag presidential turnout. Trump, of course, also lost the 2020 election despite winning Florida.

As for himself, Biden told reporters that he is hoping he and first lady Jill Biden will get away from Washington during the holidays. The president described the looming question as a "family decision," illustrating the first lady's power in such a conversation.

"I don't feel any hurry one way or another," Biden said.

DeSantis and Trump's respective offices did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
