• Kim Kardashian-West used a surrogate to have her third child, Chicago, and is now reportedly using a surrogate to have her fourth child, a boy.
• Kardashian-West has the condition placenta accreta. 
• The condition is when placenta is hard to remove after birth. 
• Though Kardashian-West didn't use a surrogate for her second child, she ultimately decided that it was her best option for her third child, Chicago.
• Placenta accreta cannot be prevented, but diagnosed pregnant women can take certain precautions to ensure a safe birth. 

Kim Kardashian-West has always wanted a big family, and now she's reportedly expecting a fourth child with husband Kanye West via surrogate. According to reports, the couple is expecting a boy to add to their three children: North, Saint, and Chicago, who was also born via surrogate on January 15, 2018.

Although she's previously talked about how hard it was at first to have a surrogate, Kardashian-West has a common, dangerous condition that makes surrogacy the safest option for her and the baby.
