- Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 9 in India.
- The phone delivers a Helio G85 chipset and 48MP quad camera.
- Expect to pay at least Rs 11,999 for the smartphone when it goes on sale later this week.
Xiaomi teased the arrival of the Redmi Note 9 in India earlier this month, joining the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max models. Now, the company has made it official by launching the phone in the country.
The Redmi Note 9 packs a Helio G85 processor that’s pretty beefy for the price segment, featuring an octacore design (2x Cortex-A75 and 6x Cortex-A55) and Mali-G52 MC2 graphics. So expect this phone to deliver good system performance for the price. This processor is also part of MediaTek’s gaming-focused G series, so we’re expecting decent performance in games then (relative to other chips in this tier).
Xiaomi’s latest phone in the market also delivers a 5,020mAh battery with 22.5W charging, a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD screen, and a rear fingerprint scanner. Switching to the camera side of things, you’ve got a 13MP selfie camera in a punch-hole cutout, as well as a quad rear camera setup (48MP+8MP ultra-wide+2MP macro+2MP depth).

Other noteworthy specs include a 3.5mm port, IR blaster, MIUI 11 atop Android 10, Bluetooth 5, Gorilla Glass 5, USB-C, and a p2i water-repellent coating. Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn’t list NFC as one of the inclusions.
Coming to the all-important pricing, the Redmi Note 9 starts at Rs 11,999 (~$160) for the 4GB/64GB variant, while the 4GB/128GB option will set you back Rs 13,499 (~$180). The top-tier 6GB/128GB model retails for Rs 14,999 (~$200). The phone will go on sale from July 24, and will be available via Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Amazon India.
